Hi, I'm Jess
I'M A PHOTOGRAPHER, ACTOR, VOICEOVER ARTIST, TWIN MUM AND CRAZY DOG LADY.
I've been working in the entertainment industry for almost 20 years. As an actor I've done a bit of everything, from working with Oscar nominated actors in feature films, performing radio plays for the BBC, national ad campaigns and voiceovers for brands like Panasonic and Tassimo and treading the boards at Chichester Festival Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe (and everything in between). I've also worked production side, as a PA on numerous commercials and as a casting assistant for esteemed casting directors Emma Stafford and Martin Gibbons. It's fair to say I have a broad knowledge and strong love for this industry, and the people that make it exist.
It was through my work in film that I got into photography. I'd always loved art and photography and enjoyed experimenting with my camera, and when a friend asked me to take some headshots many year ago I jumped at the chance. His agent continued to send actors my way, and at the same time I found myself being asked to shoot BTS and PR stills on some of the commercials I was working on and unit stills for some shorts and the feature THE FOUR WARRIORS (Netflix). My photography work grew organically until I was ready to launch The Headshot UK in 2010. I took a break from photography to have my beautiful twins and shortly afterwards the pandemic hit, causing it to be a slightly longer break than I had planned. I launched Jess Blake Photography in 2025 and couldn't be happier to be back where I belong, behind a camera. When I'm not working I'm either with my family or my senior rescue dog. I adore the beach, it is my happy place.

We'll start off discussing your past work, your casting type, your goals and aspirations as a performer, and I'll coach you through every aspect of the shoot, such as posing and expression. I have been in your shoes many times and I know how daunting a photoshoot can feel. I guarantee my shoots are relaxed and FUN! Oh and I have the most amazing coffee machine. There are lots of headshot photographers out there, but I have the advantage of almost two decades of experience in the industry. I know how acting headshots differ from corporate headshots, I have been the person sifting through casting submissions, I have run auditions. I understand how images appear on Spotlight, and what casting directors are actually looking for in an image. I have worked in this niche market for years to be able to offer high end actors headshots without having to trek into London. I'm also fully insured, experienced at working with kids, hold a full DBS check and am reliable.
In addition to offering headshots I adore photographing all performance. I've shot unit and BTS stills for shorts, music videos and Netflix feature THE FOUR WARRIORS. I've shot production stills for numerous theatrical productions and have photographed numerous gigs.
